Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology
Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology is a private university and is also known as SIST. It is a deemed-to-be university and was established in 1987. The university was formerly known as Sathyabama University and is one of the oldest STEM-intensive university in the country. SIST is recognised by the UGC and has been accredited by the NAAC with an A++ grade. It has also received ISO 9001:2008 certification and has been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) as well.
The university has ranked in the band of 1201-1400 by the QS World Rankings 2026 in the 'World University' category. In addition, it has also ranked 93 under the 'Overall' category by the NIRF 2025. Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology courses are offered to students at the UG, PG, and PhD levels, mainly in streams like Engineering, Management, Humanities, Law, Science, etc. Some of the popular courses offered at the university are BTech, BSc, BCom, BBA, MBA, MTech, MSc, etc. These courses are AICTE-approved and are offered in full-time mode. These courses are catered by 15+ departments and is facilitated by expert faculty.
SIST Chennai has signed various MoUs with national and international universities such as UNINT, NITTTR Chennai, University of Western Australia, and Taylor's University, among others. Sathyabama University admission is conducted on the basis of both merit and entrance-exam scores. Some of the popular entrance exams accepted by the university are JEE Mains, SAEEE, CAT, MAT, CMAT, XAT, etc. The university also has a dedicated placement cell that conducts different training and skill-development programmes for students.
