

KPRIET Hosts National-Level Hackathon "Hack the Horizon" with 398 Participants from Across India

KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology (KPRIET) successfully hosted Hack the Horizon, a 24-hour national-level hackathon aimed at fostering innovation and technological solutions to real-world problems.
The event witnessed overwhelming participation with 112 teams comprising 398 students from 49 institutions across the country. Organized by the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, in association with the IEEE KPRIET Student Branch, the Department of AI & ML, and the Department of AI & DS, the hackathon provided a dynamic platform for young minds to collaborate and innovate.
Participants were challenged to develop projects in domains such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, IoT, Web and App Development, HealthTech, Smart Cities, and Sustainability.
An expert jury panel evaluated the projects based on innovation, technical implementation, design, feasibility, and potential impact. The top three winning teams were awarded cash prizes of ₹15,000, ₹7,000, and ₹3,000 respectively.
Every participant received a certificate of recognition and an enriching experience that broadened their perspective on problem-solving through technology.
The event stood as a testament to KPRIET’s commitment to nurturing future-ready technologists and promoting interdisciplinary innovation. As the slogan goes—24 hours is all it takes to change the horizon.

Coimbatore: In a significant step toward sustainable agricultural development, KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology (KPRIET) has successfully implemented an Advanced Irrigation System with IoT in Kaduvettipalayam village, Coimbatore.
The project was made possible through a ₹1 lakh grant received under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) Scheme in the Technology Development category. Led by Dr. Dharani Kumar S, the initiative was carried out by the KPRIET UBA Cell and the Department of Mechanical Engineering to support local farmers.
This smart irrigation system utilizes IoT technology to enable efficient water management, optimizing agricultural productivity while minimizing water wastage. By integrating modern technology with traditional farming methods, the project aims to improve rural livelihoods and promote sustainable farming practices.
